Workshop Mirte Engelhard: sketch your story
Mirte Engelhard, modeontwerpster & social creator is een eigenzinnige mode ontwerpster in Klarendal, het modekwartier van Arnhem. ‘Ik zie mode als taal om mensen te helpen hun stem te laten horen of terug te vinden’. Maar kleding wordt niet altijd zo gedragen. In onze maatschappij wordt van ons verwacht dat we meebewegen met de mainstream. En dat is terug te zien aan onze kleding, die onze unieke persoonlijkheid eerder verhult in plaats van die te laten zien. ‘Ik wil kleding ontwerpen die past bij iemand zijn eigen verhaal’. ‘Schets je verhaal’.
Tijdens deze workshop leer je jouw verhaal om te zetten in conceptuele mode illustraties. ‘Neem een persoonlijk item mee die voor jou waarde heeft en/of meer vertelt over wie je bent’. Het persoonlijke item mag alles zijn; een kopje, boek, beeldje, kleding etc..(is het item breekbaar of moeilijk mee te nemen maak dan foto’s met je telefoon en neem deze mee). Het mee gebrachte item dient als inspiratie voor jouw ontwerpschetsen. We eindigen deze workshop met een kleine presentatie van de gemaakte illustraties met toelichting van de deelnemers.

Mirte Engelhard, fashion designer & social creator is a quirky fashion designer in Klarendal, the fashion district of Arnhem. ‘I see fashion as a language to help people express or find their voice’. But clothes are not always worn that way. In our society we are expected to move with the mainstream. And this is reflected in our clothes, which tend to conceal our unique personality rather than show it off. ‘I want to design clothes that fit someone’s own story’. ‘Outline your story’.
During this workshop you will learn to transform your story into conceptual fashion illustrations. ‘Bring a personal item that has value to you and/or tells more about who you are’. The personal item may be anything, a cup, book, sculpture, clothing, etc. (if the item is fragile or difficult to take along, take pictures with your phone and bring them along). The item you bring will serve as inspiration for your design sketches. We end this workshop with a small presentation of the created illustrations with comments from the participants.
